The book is a visual treat, featuring 50 luxurious standalone bungalows designed by both celebrated as well as emerging architects across the country. What we appreciate most is that the houses are picked from across the country, which ensures that you get a wide range of styles and genres to look at. Isn’t that the whole point of a book like that?

 

This (Hyderabad) project was about re-designing a 40-year-old family home which went through a creative process of “editing” to make it fresh and light for its second-generation owners. The existing structure was refined to suit health-conscious clients who also entertain alot.

This weekend house (in Talegaon) was designed for an industrialist and educationist, and conceived as an idyllic resort for an overworked soul in the lap of nature.

This unique residence services a contemporary joint family, where every member of the family contributed to the project brief as well as the designing process.

This retreat home in Khandala conveys an interest in innovative techniques, new materials and meticulous distribution of space. The sprawling house rejoices in its landscape and enjoys a stunning view of the hills. The dominant concept here is that of a modern structure with straight lines enhanced by a combination of geometric blocks.

This resort house is located on a hillock in Lonavala with an almost-360-degree view of the Tungarli Lake and soft mountain silhouettes in the distance. The house, called Rare Villa, is genuinely rare in many ways – you enter the house from the top of the hillock and wind your way downhill, following
the natural contours of the landscape.

 

This waterfront home in Bengaluru was planned as a direct response to one of the largest lakes in the city. It is bold, uncompromising and almost austere in its form.

This house in Khandala has been designed for an eminent personality as a weekend retreat – a place for him to unwind in with his family. The house is cool, iconic, sophisticated and yet simple. Away from the bedlam of a major Indian metropolis, relaxation, companionship and privacy are achieved and accentuated by the attention paid to details.

This contemporary residence situated on a large landscaped space in Pune was designed with the sole objective of providing the owner with a deep sense of openness.

This bungalow in Khandala was conceptualised for a family of eight who wanted an understated, comfortable and spacious living space.

The design of this Vadodara farmhouse drew inspiration from an existing structure of exposed brick.

This house in Nasik was designed on a brief to create a home which would be timeless, comfortable and yet require as little maintenance as possible!
